On my first evening in the Dolomites I was told by a German lady working at my rifugio that the best sunset was at the top of Mt. Piza, located atop an enormous wall of rock. The path leading up to it was steep, full of scree and featured a winding wooden staircase at dizzying heights. At the top of the mountain was this incredible view made all the more grand when viewed from the air.
